Part two of my sharing about the book I read...plus a bit of my own findings/knowledge/experience
Firstly, you've got to know your learning style...
At a younger age, say 12-16, most of you may not know your learning styles yet... what you can do, is maybe, answer the following questions...
1. Where do you like to learn??? -at home, in a library, at school??? (you can try going to different places to study...normally, the best places to study will be the ones where you are most comfortable in...changing locations can sometimes give you a different perspective)
2. What is you ideal learning environment? Quiet? Noisy? Music? (you should take control of your learning environment. don't let others influence you...not even me... or your best friends...when you study...YOU study)
3. How do you like to learn?? By reading, writing, typing??? Researching??? (when u come across something difficult, choose a method u prefer most...no subject is boring if u can find an interesting way to learn it)
4. When do you like to learn??? (research has it that early in the morning is the best time to study...I know we heard of many who burn the midnight oil to ace their exams...but this, may prove unhealthy to some...lack of sleep can lead to our brains having a 'short-circuit'... if u get what I mean)
Whatever it is, you will find learning a lot easier if you know your own style.
Ok...next you need to know HOW you learn and WHAT you are learning...
You've got to know what your aim for that study is. If you're doing Maths...say...Indices...your aim should be covering and mastering the concept and formulae...
You should also review if your strategy worked for you...ur repetitive method??? copying several times till all the info gets into your head??? whatever your strategy, make sure it works for you..
Plus...did you learn anything new along the way??? Did your learning process makes you more interested in that subject??
Hope your learning journey becomes something more cheerful...something more rewarding and something more lovely...

Ever since I've been entrusted to 'care' for the LSP, I've been reading up on learning techniques even more. Recently, I've borrowed books from the library on motivation and psychology. Coincidentally, my lecturer is also on this same topic... so I see a lot of relevance.
Let me share certain things I read on techniques to make you smarter... My dearest students, try to understand them and put them into use... Let's all get smarter...
Before we even THINK that we're smart, (let alone BE smart) we should know how our brains work. What happens in our heads when we use our minds? How come we can remember certain things unimportant yet forget the important details?
Long ago, before the invention of the high-tech scanners and imaging equipments, people used to think that the brain is a hollow organ waiting to be filled with memories. With the advancement of technology, we now know how wrong we were. The brain is a highly complicated organ. Perhaps the most complicated yet the most rewarding if we can understand it.
To understand more about the brain, please consult your biology textbooks. (HAHA!!!) You can also surf this website: http://kidshealth.org/kid/htbw/brain.html
That website gives you a very impressive explaination on the brain. Of course there are others. But I think, this is one of the simplest.
Next, I believe that we all understand that different people are smart in different ways. People used to say that smart people are those who ace their studies, mainly English and Maths. Research has shown, however, that people who are smart (in this manner) are actually not successful.
In the book I read, there are 10 different kinds of smart.
- Linguistic : those who like words and stories...able to write well and tell stories
- Mathematical : those who seek to understand relationships between different things
- Spatial: notice colour, form and texture..use pictures to remember things
- Physical: enjoy stports and dance, learn by rolling up sleeves and getting on with things
- Musical: can recall songs and melodies well
- Emotional: tend to reflect and look within yourself
- Social: enjoy other's complany, getting to know people
- Environmental: fascinated by nature, likes being outdoor
- Spiritual: enjoy grappling with the fundemental questions of existence.
- Practical: like making things happen...while others may talk about something...you DO it...
So, which kind of smart are you??? One can be almost all ten you know... Why not, indentify your kind of smart? Then upgrade yourself? Strengthen on your strengths and improve your weakness.
Oklah...I better stop here...Insya Allah, I will continue brain boosting...

Noticed it or not??? Last Jan passed really fast... I forgot that I've even celebrated my birthday that month... I guess I forgot to thank some pple for their presents and well wishes...
Then..it's been 6 weeks of school already... Even my course has started...
My teacher once told me this, "Adults can live with only 4 hrs of sleep."
Now, that's the amount of sleep I get everyday...even when Kakak does everything for me...I'm really lucky there's kakak... Yesterday, I sat at the side of my bed..(now it's my sis' bed actually)... I leaned my head on the sides of the ladder...n I fell asleep...I was in that position for more than an hour...n would haf stayed like that if kakak's phone didn't ring... see? even my waking up is done by kakak...though indirectly...
I'm so grateful for the presence of kakak... I can really see how Allah has planned my life...putting every tests and every happiness right where they're supposed to be... just imagine, if kakak hasn't appeared in my life... I think, I'll be reduced to 4 hrs of sleep per week!!! or...if kakak has always been in my life...I wouldn't know how to do houseworks or cook... I miss cooking n baking though...but what ever it is... I shouldn't be complaining...
Somehow... I am... I need motivation to carry on with living the way I live... I'm sure I'm no longer as cheerful as I used to be... fun ideas doesn't come to me like they used to... I can't even compose poetry anymore...
Can I get back the bubbly me??? Can I be the confident me I used to be??? Am I an arrogant, defiant, stubborn person who can't accept little changes in life???
Or...
Is it just that phase of life??? The time where, life is no longer a playground???
